end of a century [05 Oct 2004|09:00am]
[ mood | amazing ]

hey! all of my readership! that means you: adamfletcher, eltouristo, grahams, jeffm, kylec, mfisher, nuzz, pickity, rachakate, spampy, starfate22, starhearts, yrsuchariot. (yes, i know i don't have many friends... but each of you is so cool that i'm not worried.) i think you should all add my new rss feed to your friends list because i'll no longer be updating my lj like i usually do (every 6 months). but seriously! my new journal (eh? you like that sean?) is hosted on it's own domain where i'm moving all my scattered web presences to one place. it's going to be cool (when i get around to it). but i'm actually going to be posting more frequently and you'll like it A LOT and it'll be worth it. last night's post: luke quits his job and is headed to boston. see ya!

high-tech origami and sweet design [26 Aug 2004|09:02pm]
[ mood | amused ]

today i ran across some cut-out transformers, which is a pretty good idea (right??). though the art is a little bland, and the 'stat sheets' lame, it's good to see this 'interactive internet art' out there.

for instance: last christmas break my brothers and i made a bunch of cool robots some guy in japan designed. it's straight-up cool downloading a pdf, printing it, then busting out the glue sticks and scissors to make some robots. check out the crew:

three fresh robots

the robot killa

lindkvist used to have some cool stuff too (a pixel-folder you could cut out and put things in) but all the coolest stuff is gone now.

has anyone else seen cool things you can dl/print/assemble??

[ mood | ready for bed ]

yo! that word is such a standard salutation in my head that i think it comes off more normal to me that it always should. but i don't care. so right now is tapioca pudding/lj/sigur rós bedtime stories time. it's grand. [info]roryk's (2!) recent entries have inspired me, who writes even more never than i do. this pudding is so good, i just got another, yeah this week when i was at the grocery store i bought different kinds of pudding and a strange applesauce. i never get this stuff, but now i have 18 snackpacks waiting to be et. so i'm stoked to go see [info]kylec this weekend with my little brother from ohio.

i've been trying to make lampshades from scratch lately. for some reason that makes me lol but i'm serious!! but i've learned that all the really good lampshades are made with really small welds, which isn't going to happen. instead i've got pilers, glue and tape. again, i'm laughing, but this time it wasn't funny. oh boy.

i just took off my band-aid that covered the gouge in my hand a wire above the ceiling at work gave to me. and now i want applesauce. i'm going to go to bed.

female pop singers [14 Jun 2004|05:23pm]
[ mood | working ]

a while back i got people in the office using itunes and now there's 6-7 of us who share our libraries, which is sweet. today i listened to several hours worth of (other people's) female pop singers i've heard far too much about and who's music i've avoided almost entirely. today i caught up with what i've been missing with the britney spears, avril lavigne, christina aguilera, jessica simpson, and mandy moore. while generally terrible, it wasn't all pure pain. but i'm done for sure.
today i had to review and check in about 4,000 lines of code, which is probably way too long to go on a source tree before checking in any files. almost done...

incredible lapse [12 Apr 2004|03:23pm]
[ mood | anxious ]

today without fanfare i switched from being a tabs to a spaces kind of person; i hadn't even planned on it and then it happened. my vimrc is updated and i think i like it better already. also without fanfare i guess completely impulsively decided to write an entry here. i still check my friends page to see what's up 1-2 times a week prolly, so bigups thanks and hello! to all of you.

some of you don't know my basic gist: i'm living in rochester (still). i got a job and pretty much like it here, actually. i do web programming, web design, and vb applications development. this summer i should be learning lightwave 3d through work, which i am inexplicably looking forward to. i'm designing furniture and have made some of it already. i've learned to sew. i made a bookbag and some other random things. writing music has proven to be shockingly time-consuming and hard, but i've written a couple decent songs and one good song. i'm just chillin' with friends and keeping it real is it, and waiting until i have some vacation so i can get out of town to travel and see some people.

( ) [18 Oct 2002|11:26am]
[ mood | calm ]

yeah it's been a while. life can change on you for the best completely unexpectedly. i've been spending every available moment with my girlfriend laura. which isn't every day, unfortunately. there's never been anyone i've gotten along with so well, broadly and deeply, and so immediately. we've already done so many things together and talked so much that a month and a half already seems like three times that, but i guess everybody says that.
school is going well also, in spite of always being tired. so i still read my friends page to see what people are up to and wanted to reciprocate a little.

woah [10 Sep 2002|11:02pm]
[ mood | artistic ]

so i had a pretty incredible weekend, and this week is starting up pretty awesomely too. went to one of the finger lakes saturday, boating and tubing, swimming and such. got just enough sun to feel tired but invigorated. sunday night i went up to the pier on lake ontario with some friends, because we erroneously heard the aurora borealis was out, but it was a cool time. and yesterday i went to the lake again and fed birds and walked on the beach, in the sand and in the water. so three days in a row, i guess. i've run into a lot of people on campus that i wanted to catch up with, so the next few weeks should be bust with school and hanging out with tons of people. next weekend i think i'm going to nyc, also, i'm pretty excited about that. yeah.

quite a long time [06 Sep 2002|12:20am]
[ mood | happy ]

wow, so yeah. figured i'd write now that school's back in. in the past couple of weeks i sadly left utah to visit my fam in ohio then back to rochester for school. today was my first day (who besides rit starts on a thursday?) of class and it was awesome. i really like my teachers, classes, etc, and the fact that this is my last year of school (undergrad anyways...). i've already spent way too much on books and still have 2 to get. i bought a piano this week and have been playing a lot also.

[ mood | hot ]

i noticed that i have owned 23 of the albums listed below at one time or another, and still own 15 of them. i'll have to disagree with some, but others i agree completely. free arrested development cd anyone? since reading that article kind of put me in the mood, i dug out a cd i'm most befuddled by, that being the ignominious debut of jewel. i'm over half way through it and i've only skipped 4 tracks. somebody tell me to stop.

(it was hard to think, with the song pounding on your head, and impossible not to) [19 Jul 2002|06:00pm]
[ mood | mellow ]

the past few days all i've done is work a lot. get up, work, read a bit, go to bed. i'm reading lipstick traces by greil marcus. it's about dadaism, punk rock, modern society, medieval heretics, and how they all relate. sort of. it's pretty mind-blowing and fun to read, and rather dense. not one for mindless link propagation, i have to pass this along.
100 albums you should remove from your collection immediately (mozilla has problems with it)

ok, i think i'm out bye.

good tunes [16 Jul 2002|06:15pm]
[ mood | happy ]

i finally got my copy if loksins erum við engin in the mail today. it took 12 days, alas. it's the icelandic-language version of múm's finally we are no one. i'd heard two tracks off of it before i bought it, one in english and another in icelandic, and i'm really glad i ponied up the cash for the real deal.
